Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. Jn. 10:17
Clearly, the Lord is telling us that His Father’s love for Him is conditioned on His obedience. Since He is and always has been impeccable (unable to not be obedient) the love that His Father has for Him is eternal. Nevertheless, it is conditional. Our God is of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity. (Hab. 1:13). This tells us why our Sin-Bearer had to be forsaken by His Father on Calvary’s tree. Bearing our sins in His body upon that tree, He alone is able to impute to His people a righteousness that would meet the condition of His Father’s love. So that as He is, so are we in this world. This is our boldness before the throne of grace now, and in the day of judgment that is to come. Like Daniel, our comeliness has turned in us into corruption (Dan.10:8). Nevertheless, we have been made perfect through His comeliness which He has put upon us (Ez.16:14) that we might be accepted in the Beloved. (Eph1:6). ~GE

“My Times Are in Your Hand” Ps. 31:15
Christian, rest your weary soul in this truth today: "My times are in Your hands." Not in my own hands--prone to folly. Not in the hands of man--frail and fickle. Not in the hands of fate--blind and cruel. But in Your hands--Fatherly, faithful, and full of compassion. Trust Him. Wait upon Him. Lean not on your own understanding, but surrender every hour, every season, every unknown--into His wise and loving care. "My times are in Your hands"--and therefore I am safe. ~Charles Spurgeon

The Proof of Discipleship
“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” John 13:35
I am sure there are other marks of discipleship. You will believe the Truth, and you will confess Christ before men. You will hate that which is contrary to the Truth of the Gospel. I am sure there are many other things that could be said to be marks of discipleship. But these are not the mark Christ gives here. The true mark He gives is love. Love to your brothers and sisters in Christ, love to His church, and loyalty to His people. If that is absent, no matter how sound one’s profession is, it is an empty profession. When this love is absent, as Paul said, I am as a sounding brass and tinkling symbol, I am nothing, and whatever I have profits me nothing! ~Todd Nibert

Whenever worship attendance is sparse, almost always, someone
makes the comment, “Everybody is here that is supposed to be.” I know that is true. God always works “all things” after the counsel of His own will, making no mistakes. (Ephesians 1:11) However, we must be careful as to what we blame on God. Our Lord has prepared a great supper and has bidden sinners to come. If you don’t come, that is on you, not God. By nature, we will not come to Christ that we might have life. (John 5:40) May God be pleased to make us willing in the day of His power. (Psalms 110:3) ~David Eddmenson

When God moves in salvation, He lays hold of one sinner and makes him a preacher. He lays hold of another sinner and makes him a hearer. He puts a message in the preacher and gives him the ability to preach it. He puts faith in the hearer and gives him the ability to believe it. And when the transaction is finished, all parties give God all the glory for all of it! The preacher cries: “Salvation is of the Lord!” The hearer cries: “Salvation is of the Lord!” The preacher takes no credit for the message! The hearer takes no credit for believing the message! They both in complete agreement say: “To God be the glory, great things He hath done!” ~Gabe Stalnaker
